Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, has urged the Church to evolve beyond its conservative practices. During his address at the opening of the Methodist Church Conference, known as the ‘Bose Ko Viti’, he emphasized the necessity for a transformation in mindsets and attitudes as the Church follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
He warned that if the Church remains stagnant and unwilling to adapt, God will seek out others to advance His mission. “He does not need our consent and will accomplish it with those who partner with Christ to restore Christ’s true image in the Church,” he stated.
Reverend Turagavou encouraged the congregation to step out of their comfort zones and actively participate in missions, emphasizing the call for all delegates and members to lead in this effort. He highlighted that the Church should embody a sense of relationship, reflecting the nature of a relational God.
“God is calling on the Church to extend its boundaries and challenge itself to be relational and accommodating, as we are enveloped in the precious blood of Jesus,” he remarked.
