Last month, an uplifting event known as the Inspiring Youth Christmas on the Park Program took place, bringing hope, joy, and love to the street-dwelling youths of Suva. Organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, this special occasion allowed these young individuals to celebrate the essence of Christmas, a time often overlooked by many during the festive season.
The Ministry emphasized that this initiative aimed not only to celebrate Christmas but also to ensure that these youths felt seen, valued, and supported. By collaborating with partners, volunteers, and community groups, the Ministry was able to provide essential care, offer warm meals, and create a safe environment where the true spirit of Christmas could be embraced.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the Ministry noted that over 45 street-dwelling youths had been identified in Suva. The event reflects a more extensive commitment under the Balata Vou Tale Na Lawa (Casting the Net Anew) approach, which focuses on practical solutions, including rehabilitation, education, and reintegration.
The Ministry encouraged the youths who attended the event, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey. Together, the community is working towards building a society where every young person feels safe, valued, and empowered to realize their full potential. They also extended gratitude to everyone involved in making this heartwarming event a reality.
This initiative showcases the power of community support and emphasizes the importance of inclusion and care for vulnerable populations. Such efforts not only uplift individuals but also strengthen the fabric of society as a whole, instilling hope for a brighter future ahead.
