China is once again taking a prominent role in fostering global interest in trade and services. The country has been organizing the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) for the past 11 years, inviting participants from around the world.
The 12th edition of CIFTIS took place from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing. Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has grown to be one of the largest service trade fairs globally, and this year continued that trend.
Eighty-five countries participated in this year’s event, providing a showcase for numerous embassies. However, the absence of Fiji was noted, as participation could have offered an opportunity to highlight its unique culture and traditions alongside trade advancements.
Additionally, ninety journalists from eighty-three countries, including representatives from the Pacific Islands, attended the event as part of the China International Press Communication Centre program. Their presence at CIFTIS 2024 allowed them to report on the event and share their experiences with audiences worldwide.
The atmosphere at the fair was vibrant, featuring a wide range of engaging displays. Attendees could explore new technologies, cultural exhibits, shoes, clothing, bags, toys, and souvenirs, making navigation through the crowded venue a challenge.
One particularly striking display featured an advanced robot designed to resemble a friendly dog, which showcased the progress of Chinese technology. By responding to gestures, it highlighted the innovative spirit of the fair, which explored digital services and eco-friendly tourism concepts. It served as a reminder that the event was not just about products; it was a celebration of international collaboration in the service industry.
CIFTIS 2024 was an inspiring event for many attendees. The exposure to new ideas and the exciting environment created an unforgettable experience, demonstrating the importance of international cooperation for continuous improvement in the service sector.
Overall, CIFTIS 2024 was an exceptional opportunity to witness how countries can work together and share their unique talents, fostering a bright future for global trade in services.
