China is at the forefront of fostering global interest in service and trade exhibitions. For the last 11 years, the country has hosted the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), inviting nations from all corners of the globe to participate.
The latest edition, CIFTIS 2024, took place from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing. Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has grown to become one of the largest service fairs worldwide, and this year was no exception.
Eighty-five countries participated in this year’s event, showcasing diverse cultural displays and innovative technologies. Notably absent was Fiji, whose presence would have enriched the fair by sharing its unique traditions and creating new trade opportunities.
The event attracted ninety journalists from eighty-three countries, including three representatives from the Pacific Islands, who participated in the latter half of a communication program. Their involvement allowed them to experience and report on CIFTIS 2024, sharing stories from the fair with a global audience.
As visitors explored the various booths, the vibrant atmosphere was palpable, with a wide array of products on display, from clothing and accessories to toys and souvenirs. The venue was bustling with activity, prompting many attendees to purchase items as keepsakes.
One standout display featured an interactive robot that resembled a friendly dog, capturing attention with its responsive actions. This highlighted the advanced technology present at the fair, which also emphasized the importance of digital services and eco-friendly tourism. The event celebrated international collaboration, showcasing how countries leverage technology and creativity within the service sector.
