China Eyes Fijian Goods: A New Era of Economic Opportunity

China aims to increase imports of Fijian goods into its market. During a statement in Suva last Friday, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Jian emphasized the significance of leveraging market opportunities.

“As China builds a unified national market with a population of 1.4 billion, we will further unlock domestic demand,” said Mr. Zhou. He expressed optimism about the prospects for Fijian products in China’s vast market, including mineral water, skincare items, and noni fruits.

Mr. Zhou also highlighted the potential for enhanced economic and trade relations between the two countries. He welcomed Fiji to explore opportunities within China’s large outbound tourism sector.

He proposed that establishing a direct flight between China and Fiji would be advantageous. “We are eager for the launch of a direct flight soon to facilitate the arrival of more Chinese tourists to Fiji,” he stated.

Mr. Zhou concluded by expressing China’s readiness to collaborate with Fiji and seize opportunities resulting from a new wave of technological advancements and industrial changes.
