Chaudhry Urges Speight: Unveil the Truth of 2000!

Former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry, who was taken hostage during the 2000 civilian coup, has urged George Speight to reveal the truth about that tragic event. In a recent statement, Chaudhry expressed that Speight’s release has sparked widespread concern across the nation.

“If George Speight is genuinely remorseful for the violence and destruction his reckless actions caused, the least he can do to make amends is to reveal the truth regarding the events of 2000,” Chaudhry stated.

He emphasized that Indo-Fijians, who were disproportionately affected by the violence instigated by Speight and his associates, are particularly worried. Chaudhry noted that hundreds of innocent families in rural areas suffered trauma and were forced to flee their homes and farms, enduring months of terror and chaos.
