Clothes for Good has made a generous donation of $5,000 to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community as part of its charitable mission. This American non-profit organization operates the first preloved clothing store in Fiji, with locations in Nabua and Lami, near Suva.
The profits generated by these two stores are reinvested back into the Fijian community, aiding various local charities and social causes. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized that their business model is centered on philanthropy, aiming to support communities like Nasole HART and enhance their quality of life.
Ostrom explained that their outreach initiative targets communities facing economic challenges, recognizing that helping at the grassroots level can significantly uplift society. He noted, “Every time someone shops at one of our stores in Nabua or Lami, they are not only acquiring quality clothing and shoes but also contributing to a meaningful cause that aids those in need in Fiji.” He highlighted that Clothes for Good is unique in Fiji for channeling all its profits towards local assistance.
The recent donation will be utilized to repair the community’s fences, as they have faced incidents of break-ins. Ostrom expressed, “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, especially those who have experienced violence.” Additionally, part of the funds will be allocated for the maintenance of the community hall, which is currently leaking and requires urgent repairs. This hall plays a vital role as a space for local children to study.
In summary, Clothes for Good is not only committed to providing affordable clothing but also proactively engaging in community development and welfare. Their support for the Nasole HART Community through both financial contributions and their overarching business ethos illustrates a commendable approach to social responsibility.
As the community experiences improvements in safety and infrastructure, this initiative showcases the positive impact that local businesses can have when they prioritize charitable giving and community upliftment.
