Champions Crowned at Rain-Soaked Raj Charan Bowling Tournament

The Raj Charan National Open Singles bowling tournament concluded amidst light rain at the Suva Bowling Club yesterday afternoon. In the men’s competition, Rajinesh Prasad triumphed over Michael Fong with a score of 21-15, while Sheryl Edwards claimed victory against Litia Tikoisuva, winning 21-20 in the women’s category.

Despite the dreary weather, which included overcast skies and light showers, the tournament continued smoothly. Phillip Lacey, president of the Suva Bowling Club, remarked on the positive progression of the event, noting that the experienced players handled the conditions well, although less experienced bowlers faced some challenges.

The weather on the final day was a contrast to Saturday, the tournament’s opening day, which featured mild winds but was also overcast. In a prior interview, Lacey emphasized the significance of the tournament, mentioning that the winners would earn the opportunity to represent Fiji in bowling championships in either Australia or New Zealand. He expressed confidence in Fiji’s potential in the competition, citing the skills displayed by the participants.
