Boxer Maureen Neumia is encouraging women across the nation to consider taking up boxing. Neumia, who began her boxing journey in 2019 with the support of her husband, Fred Chand, the promoter of South Pacific Boxing Promotion, believes more women could excel in the sport.
The 37-year-old athlete has been intensively preparing for her upcoming fight against Amo Wati, scheduled for Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. She stated, “I’ve been working really hard and hopefully all goes according to plan in the ring. I’ve been training with my son so there’s no challenge at all.”
Neumia is also calling on boxing enthusiasts to attend the event, where three International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Asia Pacific titles will be contested.
