The Home Affairs Minister, Pio Tikoduadua, emphasized the urgent need for a centralized data management system to enhance efforts against drug-related issues. In a recent interview, he expressed that creating this system is a critical step forward.

Currently, there is an inter-agency committee operating through the Narcotics Bureau focusing on drug-related matters. Tikoduadua noted that while they have begun coordinating resources across various government departments and ministries, this initiative is still in its early stages. He is optimistic about developing a mutual platform with the Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Finance, and the Bureau of Statistics to improve data sharing and collaboration.

Recognizing the severity of the drug problem, the minister highlighted the importance of immediate action. One key area of focus is efficient data management, coupled with the necessity of better resource coordination for civil society organizations. Simple yet impactful measures, such as placing signs and billboards to raise awareness, could be implemented effectively.

This initiative represents a proactive approach to a pressing social issue and the intent to foster community collaboration. By taking these steps, there is potential for a significant positive impact on drug prevention and community engagement.

In summary, the call for a centralized data management system reflects a commitment to tackling drug-related challenges more effectively through collaboration and resource optimization.
