Celebrating Legacy: A Tribute to Chalmaiya Chetty and His Cultural Vision

The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam honored one of its esteemed members, Chalmaiya Chetty, during the launch of his book, ‘South Indian Cultural Book,’ at Subrail Park in Labasa last Friday.

Praveen Kumar, the national president of TISI, was presented with the first copy of the book by Keswan Chetty, the son of the late Mr. Chetty. A respected figure from Tabucola, Labasa, Mr. Chetty was committed to preserving the Hindi language and the cultural traditions associated with it.

Keswan Chetty remarked that the book provides a guiding framework for South Indian families to lead lives steeped in devotion, emphasizing its role in cultural preservation. He expressed gratitude to TISI for choosing such a significant occasion to launch his father’s book.

“My father was the cornerstone of my identity, instilling in me a strong sense of pride in our South Indian heritage,” he stated.

Mr. Kumar remarked on the significance of individuals like the late Mr. Chetty, identifying them as fundamental to the TISI Sangam community, and he motivated other members to emulate his example. He noted that this memorial day serves to encourage the younger generation to aspire to Mr. Chetty’s values and dedication.
