Celebrating a Legacy: Ratu Kadavulevu School Turns 100!

Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) gathered at Albert Park yesterday to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest, highlighted the institution’s significant contributions since its founding in 1924.

Rabuka commended RKS for its century-long legacy and the influential graduates who have played important roles in the nation’s development. The weeklong celebration includes a variety of activities and sports competitions, showcasing the school’s rich heritage, named after Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, a descendant of Ratu Cakobau.

The festivities began on Sunday with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva.

Today’s event, titled “Training and Investment Opportunity,” is scheduled from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at the Suva Civic Centre, providing guidance and empowerment sessions for alumni facing employment challenges.

Tomorrow, Wellness and Sports Day will take place at Albert Park at 3 PM, featuring a competition between RKS and neighboring Queen Victoria School.

On Thursday, a traditional ceremony will be held to educate current students about cultural practices, with Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, the Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, as the chief guest. Following lunch, the school pass-out parade will occur, featuring Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, as the chief guest.

Additionally, Mr. Rabuka encouraged the school community and parents to collaborate with the Government in combating drug abuse. He expressed his hope that RKS would continue to be a source of inspiration and contribute positively to the country in the future.
