Brother Fergus Garrett, believed to be one of the oldest Marist Brothers, celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, he moved to Fiji in 1970 to teach with the Marist Brothers and later went on to establish the Marist Champagnat Institute. Since his arrival, he has embraced Fiji as his home.
“The secret to a long and healthy life is good genes,” Brother Fergus shared. “My mother’s parents lived into their 90s, all my parents’ siblings reached their 90s, and my own siblings have also attained this age, and now I have too.”
