The Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia, marked his 94th birthday on Wednesday at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi. The celebration included traditional leaders from Vuda, representatives from chiefly families, and residents of Viseisei.
This year also marked the 14th anniversary of Tui Vuda’s leadership in his community. During the festivities, he expressed his gratitude for reaching this significant milestone.
“I thank God for giving me life that I can be here and celebrate my birthday with you today. I am grateful for the leadership and the guidance that at this age I can still lead my vanua,” he stated. He also appreciated the love and support that he has received from those around him.
His spokesperson, Ratu Meli Tora, noted that Tui Vuda is currently the only surviving elder iTaukei paramount chief. Ratu Meli extended his hopes for continued blessings upon Tui Vuda’s life, leadership, and community.
