Brother Fergus Garrett, who may be one of the oldest Marist Brothers, celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, he came to Fiji in 1970 to teach at the Marist Brothers and later established the Marist Champagnat Institute. Since then, Fiji has been his cherished home.
“The secret to a long and healthy life is good genes,” Brother Fergus remarked. He noted that his maternal grandparents lived into their 90s, all of his parents’ siblings reached that age, and his own siblings have also celebrated their 90th birthdays, along with him.
