CCTV footage has emerged showing 25-year-old Apisai Madigibuli exiting an apartment complex where he is accused of murdering his pregnant wife earlier this year in Suva.
During a bail hearing in the High Court of Suva, DPP prosecutor Monisha Naidu argued against Mr. Madigibuli’s request for bail, presenting a strong case including testimony from witnesses who reportedly saw him at the location.
The State’s evidence comprises the CCTV footage and a post-mortem report that clearly outlines the traumatic cause of death of 22-year-old Kitiana Baravilala, whom he allegedly stabbed with a kitchen knife on April 25.
Naidu emphasized that the safety of the community and public interest take precedence over any presumptions in favor of granting bail.
Mr. Madigibuli is scheduled to return to court for his bail hearing and pretrial conference on September 23.
