The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has charged a 79-year-old man with one count of alleged rape and indecent assault of a 13-year-old.
In the ODPP Rape and Sexual Offences Statistics for June 2024, there was also a case involving a 59-year-old man charged with the rape and sexual assault of his 15-year-old niece. Additionally, a 40-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 19-year-old niece, and a 33-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 15-year-old niece.
Another incident involved a 42-year-old man charged with the rape of his 42-year-old wife; however, this case was discontinued due to insufficient evidence. A 20-year-old man was charged with the rape of an 11-year-old, and in another incident, a 38-year-old man was charged with the rape and indecent assault of a 13-year-old girl from his village.
One incident involved an 18-year-old man charged with the defilement of a 14-year-old girl.
The ODPP noted that four cases were discontinued due to various reasons, including insufficient and inconsistent evidence, inability to contact or locate victims, and the death of accused persons.
