Jiya Jaanvi Prasad, a 20-year-old contestant sponsored by Rainbow Cool Tech, is actively participating in the Vodafone Fiji Coral Coast Carnival in Sigatoka, where she joins six others in a combined effort to combat drug addiction. This event serves as a platform for raising awareness about the issue and promoting messages of hope and recovery.

Ms. Prasad emphasized the importance of awareness and compassion in breaking the cycles of addiction, stating, “While it’s a barrier that affects many, we stand for hope, recovery, and support. By raising awareness and offering compassion, we can help break the chains of addiction and create a brighter, healthier future for all. Together, we are stronger in this fight.”

This is her first experience in a pageant, and she expresses gratitude for the support of her parents, Abhinesh and Ranjileen Prasad, who are employed in the tourism industry. Hailing from Maro, Nadroga, she has a strong educational background, having attended Tuva Primary School and Nadroga Arya College. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of the South Pacific, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer.

Ramesh Naidu, the committee secretary, noted that the carnival continues to thrive after four years, with the crowning ceremony scheduled for this Saturday.

This initiative not only highlights the talents of young individuals like Ms. Prasad but also brings crucial attention to social issues affecting communities. It’s inspiring to see youth taking a stand on important matters, fostering hope for change and collaboration towards a healthier future.

In summary, the Coral Coast Carnival provides a unique platform for raising awareness about drug addiction, and Jiya Jaanvi Prasad’s participation symbolizes the resilience and hope for a brighter future. Together, community efforts can yield positive change in the fight against addiction.
