Call to Action: Unite for a Brighter Future in Fiji’s Education

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has called on the residents of Naroi Village on Moala Island in Lau to unite as a community to enhance children’s education. During a visit to the village, Mr. Radrodro noted that Fiji has around 13,000 teachers across primary, secondary, and early childhood education (ECE) institutions, emphasizing the need to focus on their education amid rising school dropout rates.

“We encourage students and teachers to utilize the initiatives and resources provided by the Government,” Mr. Radrodro stated. He highlighted that the Ministry of Education is the largest ministry under the Government and has received a significant portion of the budget, as announced by Finance Minister Biman Prasad.

“It is crucial for our teachers to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure that our children receive a quality education,” he added. Furthermore, Mr. Radrodro appealed to not just teachers, but also to villagers, parents, village chiefs, police officers, and church leaders to collaborate in supporting children’s education and raising educational standards in Fiji.

He acknowledged the growing issue of school dropouts and urged the community to focus on the welfare of every child in terms of education. The Government has introduced initiatives like the TSLS free loan schemes and is working to establish more vocational education training institutions to pave a better educational path for children.

“I implore everyone, not only those in Moala Island but also others we have visited and will visit, to prioritize the education of our children,” he concluded.
