The team faced hurdles due to the discrepancies between the facilities available in Suva and their own local resources, but they remain focused on their preparations.

This year’s championship holds special significance as many athletes are visiting the capital city for the first time, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event, as noted by head coach Sitiveni Solisolitalei. The team, consisting of a strong contingent of 120 athletes, aims to build on their previous year’s successes and secure more medals to bring pride to their families and the Cakaudrove community.

The competition kicks off today at the HFC Bank Stadium, where approximately 2000 athletes from 21 districts across Fiji are expected to compete. Solisolitalei, who is leading the Cakaudrove team for the first time after coaching in Lami and Suva, emphasized the thoroughness of their preparations and the enthusiasm of the students, showing a healthy interest in athletics.

Gratitude was expressed towards the parents of the athletes for their unwavering support, as well as to the Fijian government for assistance with travel expenses. Fundraising efforts have played a significant role in ensuring the team’s readiness for this prestigious event.

Overall, the upcoming championship not only highlights the spirit of competition but also the community’s collective effort to support young athletes striving for excellence.

This article reflects the dedication and ambition of the young athletes and their coaches, showcasing the potential for inspiring future sports stars in the region. The collective enthusiasm and commitment from the team and their supporters suggest a bright future for athletics in Cakaudrove.
