The public will soon learn the names of the members of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) looking into the appointment of FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali and allegations raised by the former acting deputy commissioner. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Cabinet will convene on Tuesday to review a proposal for establishing the inquiry.
The COI is set to investigate recent disputes involving FICAC, Ms. Malimali, and former acting deputy commissioner Francis Puleiwai. Prime Minister Rabuka mentioned that the proposal for the Cabinet will include Terms of Reference and a list of potential COI members. In response to questions from the media, he indicated that the commission may include members from overseas.
