The Cabinet has approved the Final Report of the National Security and Defence Review (NSDR). The review was conducted under the leadership of Independent Review Lead James Sanday, with assistance from an Editorial Board that included Professor Satish Chand, Assistant Professor Ana Rokomokoti, and Associate Professor Shailendra Singh.
The NSDR Report was created after comprehensive consultations with more than 50 stakeholders from government, community, and civil society. A public version of the Final Report will be released by the Review Team, which will also organize a public validation workshop by the end of October 2024.
In addition, an inter-agency taskforce led by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration will start drafting a National Security Strategy (NSS), which is expected to be completed by December 2024. This strategy will incorporate insights and recommendations from the NSDR Final Report.
