Eighteen individuals received medical attention at Lautoka Aspen Hospital following a bus accident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Lautoka. The collision took place around 2:45 PM on King’s Road in Vitogo, when a four-wheel drive vehicle pulled out from Vitogo Road and struck a Goundar Shipping bus that was en route from Lautoka to Ba.
The impact caused the bus to overturn, landing on its side and ultimately on the approaching four-wheel drive. The driver of the four-wheel drive was trapped inside but was promptly rescued by officers from the National Fire Authority.
The bus driver, a resident of Saweni, suffered serious injuries but is currently reported to be in stable condition. A family member, Aarish Rahman, shared that his uncle, Abdul Khalik Rahman, a passenger on the bus, has sustained broken ribs and will undergo a CT scan before being admitted for further treatment.
At the time of reporting, law enforcement was present at the emergency scene, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
