After meticulous investigations spanning months into a prominent burglary case on Bau Street in Suva that drew significant attention on social media, the suspect has finally been charged and brought before the court.
The case originated in March when a household on Bau Street filed a complaint after waking to discover they had been burgled, with a considerable amount of their possessions missing.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the Criminal Investigations Department, Operations, and Intelligence units, authorities were able to conduct a raid on the suspect’s residence in Saivou, Ra. The action resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old man believed to be involved in the crime.
The suspect was subsequently charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft and appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
During this comprehensive investigation, authorities successfully recovered stolen items estimated to be worth around $1,500.
Further investigations implicating the suspect are ongoing, and he is currently being held at the Totogo Police Station.
