Bullying and Smuggling Scandal Erupts at Queen Victoria School: Urgent Action Needed!

Lynda Tabuya, the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, has raised alarm over troubling reports of bullying and illicit activities at Queen Victoria School (QVS). Recent allegations suggest that orderlies from Rewa House have been coerced by senior students, referred to as “gangsters,” to steal a dozen loaves of bread each morning during breakfast. This stolen bread is reportedly given to senior boys who deliberately choose not to eat in the main dining hall.

Furthermore, these senior students are accused of utilizing the orderlies to smuggle forbidden items into the school, including marijuana, premixed alcohol, and cigarettes. It is claimed that these items are hidden on school grounds and retrieved after curfew, around 11:30 p.m.

In light of the severity of these issues, Ms. Tabuya emphasized the need for immediate and more extensive intervention. While recognizing that the Ministry of Education oversees student affairs, she articulated the importance of addressing both the victims of bullying and the perpetrators. “The culture of intimidation and lawlessness at QVS must be challenged, and this initiative needs to go beyond the school administration,” she stated.

To combat these ongoing issues, Ms. Tabuya has proactively engaged with Inspire Pacific, a group dedicated to addressing bullying. In tandem, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro responded to the serious allegations circulating online, particularly regarding drug use among students, announcing a comprehensive investigation into the claims. He assured the public that those found accountable would face consequences.

As authorities embark on their investigation, there is heightened public expectation for decisive measures to eradicate the bullying culture and restore order at QVS.
