The Bularoos rugby club, located in Tailevu, Northland, has set a determined objective for its players to achieve success through rugby as a viable career path. The club fosters a united spirit among its members, encouraging them to pursue both local tournaments and opportunities in the sport.
Participation in local 7s tournaments is just the beginning; the Bularoos also emphasizes the importance of 15s rugby. According to team manager Kamelu Bulai, the club’s primary aim is to pave the way for players to potentially don the prestigious white jersey in the future.
The Bularoos have aspirations that extend beyond representing Fiji. “We have a bigger plan; we want to see our players succeed and make a living for themselves through rugby, including securing overseas contracts. We are doing this for our families,” Bulai stated.
The players are encouraged to participate in both formats of the game, with a focus on transitioning back to 15s rugby when the Skipper Cup and Vanua season commence. The team has witnessed a positive shift in attitude among its players, who now demonstrate greater commitment and focus, thanks to the structured environment and increased competition.
The Bularoos recently featured in the RC Manubhai 7s tournament in the men’s tier two category, showcasing their dedication and pushing towards their goals.
This initiative reflects not just personal ambition but also community support, as families rally behind these athletes striving to achieve their dreams through sport. With determination and a clear strategy, the Bularoos are on a promising path to success in the world of rugby.
