Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada, Ra, is making strides in her handcraft business based in Bulileka, Labasa. Despite facing challenges, Fulori has found success in her venture, which she started only last year. Her journey began with basic training in entrepreneurship during her higher education in Nasinu, which sparked her interest in business.
Fulori emphasizes the importance of continuous learning, seeking knowledge to improve her skills and expand her business. “This talent has always been a dream of mine to develop into a business, and now that dream is becoming a reality,” she reflected.
She has ventured into creating handicrafts and has also expanded into selling ready-made products within her community. Fulori underscores the role that local demand plays in her business success, noting the consistent orders she receives from various hotels like Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa, with deliveries even reaching Nausori at times.
In line with the celebratory spirit of the month, she is witnessing an increase in orders, although she acknowledges that there are days when the volume of products can be demanding. Her handicrafts are competitively priced starting at $5 and include items like mats and rugs, which she crafts regularly.
On her busiest days, Fulori can produce up to 20 items, potentially earning between $200 and $400 a week during high-demand times such as festivities. Her success not only boosts her family’s finances but also serves as encouragement for others in her community to pursue their passions.
Fulori encourages those around her to recognize and cultivate their talents, advocating for the pursuit of entrepreneurial opportunities to enhance their livelihoods. She holds faith in the blessings from God, hoping for continued success on her journey.
