National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad has praised Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for his friendship and fairness. During the Party Convention held in Sigatoka, Prof Prasad highlighted the Prime Minister’s consistent support during his personal challenges within the Government.
He stated, “This is leadership that bodes well for the future of both our Government and our country as we work to improve our Government and our country.”
Prof Prasad expressed gratitude for the solidarity that has characterized their political partnership long before they assumed power, suggesting it will continue into the future.
Addressing the complexities of coalition politics, he acknowledged that while there are some points of disagreement among the three parties involved, these differences are expected.
“We all have our own reasons for being in politics and represent different constituencies with varying priorities. Despite any public disagreements, we respect each other’s views. We are all democrats, and like mature adults, we can differ respectfully,” he remarked.
He emphasized that while not everyone may get their way, mutual respect among coalition partners is essential for building trust. Prof Prasad concluded by noting that after years of a government that lacked trust, efforts are now underway to rebuild trust throughout the country.
