Building Hope: $20K Donation Transforms Lives in Fiji

The JP Bayly Trust has contributed $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity Fiji to aid in housing and community development efforts. Trust chairman Digby Bossley emphasized the importance of this donation in supporting disadvantaged Fijians in their recovery. He noted that many individuals in Fiji are still living in tents or have lost their homes due to natural disasters, while others are unable to afford construction of new homes.

Bossley highlighted that this instability often leads to additional socioeconomic and health challenges. He expressed their eagerness to assist Habitat Fiji in providing housing, which would offer people a sense of security and help them work towards overcoming poverty.

Susan Naidu, national director of Habitat for Humanity Fiji, shared that the Daulomani Home in Lautoka, established during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been offering temporary shelter to homeless individuals and families. She indicated that the donation will be utilized to ensure access to essential services such as electricity, as well as kitchen necessities including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking stoves.

Naidu expressed gratitude for the JP Bayly Trust’s generous donation, which she believes will motivate them to continue their mission of building homes and restoring hope for Fiji’s most vulnerable populations. She added that each home built provides a foundation for families to lead healthier and more dignified lives.

Earlier this year, Habitat for Humanity Fiji and the JP Bayly Trust formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance their collaborative efforts in supporting marginalized communities.
