Brother International (NZ) Ltd, a company with over two decades of investment in Fiji, has selected Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD as its new official distributor for the region. This decision is part of a strategic initiative to broaden Brother’s product offerings and stimulate growth in the business-to-business market by collaborating with a distributor that is well-versed in the local Fijian landscape.
Pacific Brothers comes with a wealth of experience in the printing sector and emphasizes customer service and support. As part of this commitment, they will provide round-the-clock support to users throughout Fiji, achieving an 80% resolution rate for issues through remote assistance. Additionally, the company plans to allocate 10% of its profits towards tackling child poverty and enhancing education.
Both Brother and Pacific Brothers are focused on establishing a comprehensive network of local Technical Service Providers, ensuring that customers have optimal experiences with Brother products.
From a financial perspective, former Brother International (NZ) Ltd Executive Chairman Graham Walshe stated that the goal is to enhance company growth through positive cash flow and retained earnings within Fiji and the broader Pacific region. He emphasized their commitment to governance and accountability, paying their fair share of taxes and contributing positively to the community. Walshe mentioned that their channel model involves over ten local partners from whom customers can purchase Brother products, stating that Pacific Brothers itself will not directly sell to end users.
Walshe affirmed Fiji’s role as a sales and support hub for the Pacific, which will generate employment and become a center of excellence. The focus on sustainability is evident, with Brother and Pacific Brothers expanding their recycling initiatives and investing in local sustainability and corporate social responsibility projects.
Former New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and now Director of Pacific Brothers Distributor Pte LTD, Murray McCully highlighted the importance of Fiji as a central hub for the Pacific’s success. He pointed out that a robust Pacific economy is crucial for New Zealand and praised Brother for their commitment to environmental and social responsibility, noting that while many companies discuss these issues, Brother actively invests in real projects.
McCully characterized Brother as a strong, culturally rich Japanese company committed to global citizenship, expressing his admiration for their decision to reinvest a significant portion of their profits back into the community. He also praised Brother’s leadership in environmental sustainability, which includes a four-year buyback arrangement, and concluded with gratitude for the partnership and the positive relationships developed in Fiji.
