Bristol Bears secured their first home win of the season with a hard-fought 31-23 victory against a reshuffled Northampton side, thanks in part to two tries from Fijian centre Kalaveti Ravouvou, who was making his season debut.
Northampton jumped to an early 15-0 lead within the first 20 minutes, courtesy of George Hendy and Josh Kemeny. However, Bristol responded swiftly with two quick tries from Ravouvou and Gabriel Ibitoye, bringing them back into the match.
Ravouvou’s second try allowed Bristol to take a slim lead, and Joe Batley extended it further with a fourth try just ten minutes before the final whistle. Although James Ramm scored for the Saints in the final minute, it was too late for them to alter the outcome, marking their sixth straight defeat in Premiership away games.
This victory marks Bristol’s fourth consecutive win over Northampton and puts them ten points clear at the top of the table ahead of the weekend’s remaining fixtures.
