Bridging Divides: A Tribute to Leadership and Trust in Coalition Politics

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad has expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, highlighting his friendship and fairness. During the Party Convention held in Sigatoka, Prof Prasad acknowledged the Prime Minister’s ongoing support throughout his personal challenges in the Government.

He stated, “This is leadership that bodes well for the future of both our Government and our country as we work toward improvement.” He also recognized that the solidarity and support for their political partnership predated their time in Government and anticipates its longevity.

Prof Prasad acknowledged the challenges of operating within a Coalition, noting that there are certain issues where the three parties may publicly disagree. “We expect that. We are all in politics for different reasons. We represent different people with different priorities. Even when there is public disagreement, we each respect that. We are all democrats,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of expressing views openly while maintaining respect for one another.

He further stated, “We do not always get our way. But in politics and within a Coalition Government, respecting your partners and their views is essential. Respect builds trust. After years of a government that trusted nobody, we are focused on rebuilding trust in our country.”
