“Breaking: Surge in Covid-19 Cases and Deaths in New Zealand”

In the week leading up to Sunday, New Zealand recorded 1761 new cases of Covid-19, along with 16 additional deaths attributed to the virus. Out of the new cases, 1069 were reinfections. There were 134 people hospitalized with the virus, although none required intensive care. Canterbury reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Waitematā, Counties Manukau, and Waikato. These figures are lower compared to the previous week when Te Whatu Ora reported 2414 new cases and 22 further deaths.
