Breaking News: Historic Appointment in Public Prosecutions

Nancy Tikoisuva has been appointed as the Acting Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP). She received her formal appointment letter yesterday from President Ratu Willame Katonivere.

Ms. Tikoisuva said she received the letter around 3:30 PM following the departure of John Rabuku from the office on Wednesday.

“My appointment comes at a time when there have been significant changes in the leadership of the office,” Ms. Tikoisuva stated. “Our focus is to maintain the momentum on the office’s strategic directions, and I am thankful that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) decided to make the appointment internally. I have a supportive team.”

Ms. Tikoisuva previously served as the acting assistant director for DPP under Mr. Rabuku’s tenure. A prominent lawyer, she has worked with Toganivalu Legal law firm, served as an External Academic with the University of the South Pacific (USP), and worked as a consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

With over 18 years of experience, Ms. Tikoisuva graduated from USP in 2003 and earned her Masters in Law in 2022.

“I am the second local female, the third female in the history of the DPP’s office, and the first iTaukei female to hold this position,” she said.

Her message to her female colleagues is: “Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged by bureaucracy, let your work speak for itself.”
