Police Constable Sadamma from the Labasa Police Station has underscored the ability of women to successfully balance the demanding roles of a police officer, mother, and wife. This empowering statement emerged during a ceremony where she and 37 fellow police personnel from the Northern Division were honored with Long Service and Good Conduct medals, presented by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew.

With two decades of dedicated service in the Fiji Police Force, PC Sadamma has worked in various stations, including Totogo Police Station in Suva and Lautoka Police Station. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the initial challenges of working in a male-dominated environment. “It wasn’t easy at first, but the support from my family and understanding superiors helped me to fulfill my duties effectively,” she stated, highlighting the importance of resilience and support in navigating her dual responsibilities.

Currently serving in the Sexual Offence Unit, Sadamma focuses on sensitive cases involving children and women—a role she finds profoundly rewarding. “I chose to become a Policewoman because I wanted to help others, especially women and children,” she expressed passionately. This commitment reflects her dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and making a positive impact through her work.

In her address, PC Sadamma encouraged young women aspiring to enter law enforcement to pursue their dreams vigorously, emphasizing the need for perseverance and hard work. “Nothing comes easy in life; everyone must either work hard or smart to have a fulfilling career,” she advised, reinforcing her belief that success is achievable through dedication.
