Police Constable Sadamma, stationed at the Labasa Police Station, has asserted that women are more than capable of balancing the demanding roles of police officer, mother, and wife. This empowering statement came as she and 37 other police personnel from the Northern Division were honored with Long Service and Good Conduct medals during a ceremony held at the Labasa Civic Centre, under the officiation of Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew.
With two decades of dedicated service within the Fiji Police Force, PC Sadamma has gained extensive experience across various stations, including Totogo Police Station in Suva and Lautoka Police Station. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the challenges of initially working in a male-dominated environment, saying, “It wasn’t easy at first, but the support from my family and understanding superiors helped me to fulfill my duties effectively.”
Now serving in the Sexual Offence Unit, PC Sadamma handles sensitive cases involving children and women—a role she finds profoundly rewarding. “I chose to become a Policewoman because I wanted to help others, especially women and children,” she stated, highlighting her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
In her address, she encouraged young women who aspire to join law enforcement to pursue their dreams with vigor, emphasizing the importance of hard work and resilience. “Nothing comes easy in life; everyone must either work hard or smart to have a fulfilling career,” she noted, reinforcing her belief that success is achievable through dedication.
