Simran Chandra, a 43-year-old market vendor from Tavakubu, has managed to build a thriving business over eight years while also facing the challenges of breast cancer. Despite her diagnosis, she continues to operate her two market stalls with the unwavering support of her family.
Ms. Chandra’s journey began with selling pineapples on the streets and has led her to become a respected figure among the community of women vendors. Although her fight against breast cancer has been tough, she remains resilient. “My family has been my support system through my cancer treatment. My mum and my son have always stood by my side,” she shared.
Since starting her business eight years ago, Ms. Chandra has expanded her operations and is now a well-regarded market vendor in Lautoka.
