The anticipated boxing match between Ubayd Haider and Mikaele Ravalaca is scheduled for February 22, 2025. This announcement came from Haider’s manager, Alan Kumar, who is currently in discussions with Ravalaca’s manager, Gus Wahab, based in Australia. Kumar plans to revive Bula Boxing Promotions, with the first event officially booked for that date.
“After receiving confirmation from the Boxing Commission of Fiji for February 22, 2025, I contacted Mikaele Ravalaca’s manager, Gus Wahab. He is a great gentleman, and we had a productive conversation about arranging this fight for the fans,” Kumar said.
Both teams are eager for the fight to take place, though negotiations regarding the purse are ongoing. Kumar mentioned, “There is positive movement, and we are discussing the purse. We proposed around $5000, but they have not agreed to that yet. We hope to reach an agreement by the end of Friday, and we aim to sign the contract next week.”
As the events manager with Bula Events Group and promoter for Bula Boxing, Kumar emphasized that the fight will occur exclusively under his promotion. “I am the only one who can make this fight happen because I manage Ubayd Haider, and he will heed my decisions. We aren’t avoiding anyone; we have fights scheduled for this year. We want the public to witness this match soon. We apologize for the delay, but Haider is preparing for an IBO title fight on October 26 in Nadi against an Australian opponent. It is crucial for us, and we are taking things step by step, looking forward to February 22,” he stated.
The event is set to take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
