Boxer Maureen Neumia is encouraging women across the country to participate in the sport.
“I began my boxing journey in 2019 after my husband, Fred Chand, who promotes South Pacific Boxing Promotions, inspired me to take it up,” she stated recently.
Neumia emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in boxing, noting their success in other sports.
At 37 years old, she has thoroughly prepared for her upcoming match against Amo Wati at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.
“I’ve been training hard and I’m hopeful that everything will go well in the ring. I’ve also been training with my son, which has posed no challenges,” she added.
Neumia has invited boxing fans to attend the event on Saturday, which will feature three International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Asia Pacific title bouts.
