Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, delivered a heartfelt eulogy for the late boxer Ubayd Haider, expressing that he will always be remembered by those who knew him. Speaking at the FMF gymnasium, Minister Saukuru emphasized the impact Mr. Haider had on the boxing community and his loved ones.
“May we find peace in the knowledge that he belongs to the Lord,” he expressed, reflecting on the deep loss felt by many. Haider passed away following a fight on October 26 against Australia-based boxer Runqi for the IBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title. He was only 25 years old and, after collapsing post-fight, was admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital where he ultimately succumbed.
Saukuru also offered condolences to Haider’s family and reassured them that his legacy would endure in the hearts of those he touched. Minister Jese Saukuru’s poignant remarks serve as a reminder of the deep connections formed through sports and the lasting impact individuals can have on their communities.
As we reflect on Haider’s life, it is a moment to celebrate the joy and passion he brought to boxing, inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams with the same dedication.
Overall, the community remembers Ubayd Haider as a talented athlete and a loving person whose legacy will continue to inspire others in the sport.
