George Bose, a promising talent from Draiba, Nadroga, continues to strive towards recognition despite facing numerous challenges in his rugby career. Recently, he participated in a training session for the Fiji Airways men’s sevens squad at the High-Performance Unit gym in Laucala Bay, Suva. This marks Bose’s return to the squad after being part of it during former coach Ben Gollings’ tenure last season.
Bose shared his journey, acknowledging the difficulties he confronted while making the transition to the sevens format. “It isn’t easy, especially having to make it into camp, but at the end of it, it’s all about persevering and keeping on going,” he noted. He has had to adapt significantly to the team dynamics and the level of training required for sevens rugby compared to his club experience.
His ambition goes beyond just training; Bose aims to secure an international contract, something that fuels his dedication. He attributed a considerable part of his determination to the unwavering support of his family. Recently, he played with the BLK Lavidi team at the Fiji Bitter Kadavu 7s, which caught the attention of Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau, leading to his selection in the current camp.
Bose’s persistence highlights the spirit of determination and hope, illustrating that with hard work and the right support, challenges can be overcome, opening doors to new opportunities. His story serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes facing their own hurdles.
