The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, underscored the vital role of productivity in driving economic growth.

During his address at the 65th Workshop Meeting of Heads of National Productivity Organisations held this morning at the Sofitel Resort in Nadi, he emphasized that productivity is a key factor in increasing GDP per capita among nations.

Kamikamica noted positive signs of recovery in global and Pacific productivity, reporting a 1.2% increase worldwide and projecting a 1.8% growth for the Pacific region in 2023. He urged for collaborative efforts to tackle modern challenges, focusing on economic resilience and sustainability.

He mentioned that the Fijian Government is working to boost productivity through various initiatives, which include addressing labor shortages, updating policies, and diversifying the economy.
