Bokobuka, the current champions of the Siga Damu a Vanua championship shield in the senior premier division, is preparing for a more challenging upcoming season. They recently celebrated a significant victory over the Police team, winning 28-18 at Subrail Park in Labasa.
During a thanksgiving service, coach Viliame Maiono highlighted the need for heightened discipline among the players as they defend their title. He emphasized that the team must elevate their performance not only physically but also mentally to meet the intensified competition.
Maiono acknowledged the sacrifices that would be necessary for the team to achieve success. He expressed gratitude for the strength provided by their faith, stating, “We thank the Lord Almighty for giving us the strength.”
The team has faced challenges during their preparations, particularly regarding the availability of personnel, as some officers are stationed in remote areas such as Nabouwalu, Savusavu, and Seaqaqa. This sometimes affects their ability to field a full team, especially on weekends when officers are on duty. To mitigate this, they have recruited additional players.
Another hurdle has been securing necessary equipment, with the team working on obtaining it by 2025. Nevertheless, Maiono remained optimistic, stating that they are ready to unite and tackle any future challenges.
Looking ahead, Bokobuka is poised to enter the next season with determination and commitment, symbolizing the spirit of resilience and teamwork essential for any successful sports team.
In summary, Bokobuka faces newfound challenges for the coming season but remains undeterred in their pursuit of excellence through discipline, teamwork, and faith. This spirit will inspire both players and their supporters as they prepare to defend their championship title.
