Members of the Bloc of 16 in Parliament have the option to establish a political party, as long as they adhere to the guidelines specified in the Political Parties Act. Independent MP Jone Usamate made this declaration during an interview on The Lens@177.

“Anyone can create a political party under the Political Parties Act,” he stated. “If they follow the process, it is entirely feasible. There are methods outlined in the legislation to facilitate this.”

Usamate emphasized the importance of the Bloc maintaining unity and adopting shared values to remain focused. When questioned about the potential for another split within the Bloc, he acknowledged that the future is uncertain.

“Speculation is unavoidable, but anything could happen. Today, the sun rises at six; tomorrow it might be near eight. Who knows?” he said, highlighting the challenges of keeping a group cohesive. He also reaffirmed the Bloc’s support for their leader, Inia Seruiratu.
