Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has urged the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Civil Service to address concerns stemming from a newly implemented policy regarding overtime and Time Off in Lieu (TOIL). He emphasized that the challenges faced, particularly in the radiology department, do not stem from a lack of funding.

“I don’t think it’s a difficult issue, and it’s not a question of funding not being available,” Prasad stated, expressing confidence that the concerned ministries can resolve the matter. As a result of the new policy, some hospital departments have experienced a reduction in their operating hours, which adds urgency to the need for a resolution.

This situation highlights the importance of effective communication and collaboration between government departments to ensure that healthcare services remain robust and accessible. By addressing these concerns promptly, the government can reaffirm its commitment to maintaining quality healthcare services for citizens.

In summary, Minister Prasad’s call to action offers hope for a quick resolution that could restore full operational capacity to impacted hospital departments, ultimately benefiting both healthcare professionals and patients in the community.
