Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has urged the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Civil Service to resolve matters related to a newly implemented policy concerning overtime and Time Off in Lieu (TOIL). He emphasized that the challenges being experienced by the radiology department do not stem from a lack of funding.
“I don’t think it’s a difficult issue, and it’s not a question of funding not being available,” he stated, expressing confidence that the ministries involved should be able to address these concerns effectively. The recent policy changes have led to reduced operating hours in some hospital departments, highlighting the urgency for resolution.
This situation presents an opportunity for both ministries to improve collaboration and enhance the functioning of healthcare services. By addressing these operational issues, there is potential for more efficient management and potentially better outcomes for employees and patients alike.
In summary, decisive action and effective communication between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Civil Service could lead to better work conditions and improved health service delivery, fostering a more responsive healthcare system.
