More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately a thousand small branches, suspected to be marijuana, were confiscated in Tacirua, close to Suva, yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that the seizure was the result of a coordinated operation involving personnel from the Fiji Police Force’s Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit.
The authorities targeted the residence of a 57-year-old man, where the illegal items were found ready for distribution. ACP Driu praised the collaboration between the community and the police, emphasizing the importance of information sharing.
“The raid reflects the continued support shown by members of the community in working with the Fiji Police Force,” he stated. “We appreciate everyone who continues to support policing efforts in the war on drugs.”
