Behind Closed Doors: The Mysterious Launch of COMO Laucala Island Hangar

A highly anticipated event at Nadi International Airport took a mysterious turn as the launch of the COMO Laucala Island hangar was held privately. The event, described by industry leaders as a “miracle,” was conducted behind closed doors, allowing only the Government’s Information arm to attend.

Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica emphasized the private nature of the event, which he believes signals a positive business environment. The multi-million dollar project took five years to complete and faced numerous setbacks, including several Stop Order notices issued under the former Bainimarama administration.

Mr. Kamikamica noted that the current Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka permitted the project to move forward after it had previously been halted by the prior government. Laucala Island, known for attracting wealthy tourists from around the globe, contributes approximately $3 million in foreign exchange to Fiji each month. COMO Laucala Island is recognized as one of the largest private resort destinations worldwide and features a dedicated lounge at Nadi International Airport.
