Nilshika Singh is a remarkable young woman whose blend of beauty and intelligence sets her apart. Raised in Sigatoka, she has achieved personal milestones that include winning various beauty pageants and excelling in Taekwondo competitions in both Thailand and Fiji.
Growing up as an only child in a middle-class family, she received all the essential support she needed, shaping her into the person she is today. “I never felt like anything was missing because my parents gave me everything I ever needed to grow into who I am today,” Ms. Singh reflected, adding, “My only regret is that my mother isn’t here with me to celebrate.”
Her educational journey began at Nadi Sangam School, where she studied from 2004 to 2011, followed by Sangam SKM College from 2012 to 2015. Ambitious from a young age, Ms. Singh has always aimed to inspire others to believe in themselves. “I am a hardworking and driven individual who isn’t afraid to face challenges,” she asserted, highlighting her passion and commitment to her endeavors.
As a pageant winner, Ms. Singh has showcased Fiji to the world. She kicked off her pageant journey in 2017 and quickly gained recognition, earning titles such as first runner-up and charity queen, as well as competing in the Miss India Fiji pageant. In 2018, she made a notable appearance at the Sugar Festival in Lautoka, and by 2023, she had made her mark in Sydney, earning accolades like Most Charming and Best Evening Gown at Miss Multicultural Global Australia.
Her most significant achievement came when she was crowned Mrs M Universe Australia by national director Rox Molavin and subsequently claimed the title of Mrs M Universe International in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Winning these titles filled her with a sense of pride and validation for her hard work.
Beyond her achievements in the pageant world, Ms. Singh is a black belt in Taekwondo, a sport she has championed in spite of the gender divide in male-dominated fields. Recently, she was invited to participate in a Taekwondo competition in Bangkok, representing her country after a five-year break from the sport. “I trained with many teams around the world and was honored to be the chief guest at the event, where I addressed the audience,” she shared.
Looking ahead five years, Ms. Singh aspires to become a head coach in either pageantry or Taekwondo, aiming to guide students to compete internationally and make their country proud. Currently, she is a lead educator at Milestones Early Learning Centre in Australia, where she enjoys watching children grow and learn while also mentoring childcare trainees.
Her advice to young people is to chase their talents boldly, urging them to believe in themselves and pursue their passions without fear. She encourages parents to nurture their children’s abilities by allowing them the freedom to explore and grow.
Now a permanent resident of Australia, Ms. Singh’s story serves as an inspiration for the younger generation, reminding them that they will not realize their full potential without commitment and determination.
