BCF Clears the Air: Binnu’s Victory Under Scrutiny

The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) has confirmed that Binnu Singh Junior won against Krishnil Mudaliar via a split decision during their WBF Australasian Featherweight title bout at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion last Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

BCF Chairman Adi Narayan addressed rumors during a press conference, responding to social media claims suggesting Mudaliar should have won decisively. He acknowledged that the official announcement did not accurately convey the judges’ scores.

“It was a close fight, no questions about it, but the result that was announced was incorrect; it was declared a majority decision when it was actually a split decision. Two judges scored for Singh and one for Mudaliar, making it a 2-1,” Narayan clarified.

Narayan further noted that video footage may not fully represent the events of the fight as they unfold. While the BCF typically overlooks negative social media comments, they found it necessary to address a particular allegation of corruption made by a licensed member of their board.

“Krishnil Mudaliar’s brother is a licensed member of the BCF, and I have revoked his license. He is no longer part of the BCF, as we do not need individuals who bring disrepute to our organization. His comments questioning the integrity of referees and officials are unacceptable,” Narayan stated.

He emphasized that this serves as a warning to other BCF members who may take to social media to criticize the organization.

“If any other licensed member of the BCF makes baseless accusations online, they will face the same consequences. We are not a corrupt organization; we are dedicated to the sport and do not receive full salaries for our efforts,” Narayan asserted.

He firmly dismissed the allegations of favoritism, biased judging, and corruption leveled against the BCF following the event in Sigatoka.
